4.              Appointment of School PsychologistApproved

Appointment of Pamela Antoci, School Psychologist, as a Co-Chairperson of the Committee on Special Education, Committee on Preschool Special Education and Subcommittees: Committee on Special Education.

5.              Appointment of Regular Substitute School PsychologistApproved

We are recommending the appointment of Pamela Antoci as a regular substitute school psychologist, effective February 13, 2017 and ending no later than June 30, 2017. Her salary will be $71,743 (prorated) MA Step 1 and stipend of $1,915.

6.              Appointment of CleanerApproved

Probationary appointment of Steve Salomon as a Cleaner (Full-Time) assigned to Birch School, effective February 8, 2017.  His salary will be $42,015 (prorated) as per the Merrick Custodial Unit Salary Schedule.  Mr. Salomon has been a Part-Time Cleaner.



These appointments are conditional pending approval by Nassau County Civil Service Commission.

7.              Additional hours for Special Education ServicesApproved

Andrea Gatto is to be paid 6 hours of additional time for New Co-Teaching Planning Time at the hourly rate as per teacher contract

Allison Ippolito is to be paid $40/hour for 25 additional hours of curriculum writing.

9.              Appointment of Full-Time Teaching PositionApproved

We are recommending the appointment of Jennifer Barba as a full time teacher position effective February 8, 2017.  Jennifer is currently a .88 teaching position.  Her salary will be $103,959   (prorated) MA Step 8.

B.              ADMINISTRATION

1.              Donation From Lakeside PTAApproved

The Lakeside PTA would like to donate $61,460 to the Lakeside school for a fully installed playground.

2.              Donation from Merrick Little LeagueApproved

The Merrick Little League would like to donate the installation of safety netting to the front ball field (Forever 9 Field) at Lakeside as per the attached contract. The total value of this donation is $7,484.

              Bid for additional Non-Public School transportation for the 2016-17 school year was duly received and opened on December 16, 2016 at 10 A.M. at the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Office.


It is recommended that award be made for Non-Public transportation for the 2016-17 school year to the lowest responsible bidder meeting specifications as listed below:

2.              Excess EquipmentApproved

The attached document is a list of computer equipment that is obsolete. The District will dispose of the units in an environmentally suitable way. 

14.              Hearing of Visitors - The public expressed their concerns regarding the proposed transportation referendum.  A sign-up sheet for Merrick residents to receive email notifications from the district will be available at  the budget vote on May 16, 2017.

15.              Reports of Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board Members - Dr. Nancy Kaplan provided a brief report. Dr. Palma spoke to the public about the informative workshops being offered by the BMCHSD to inform the community about heroin and opioid addiction

16.              Legislation - Linda Wilk encouraged the public to stay informed and involved in public education.
